I decided when I was 19 that working in the theatre as a costume designer would offer me a career which combined many of the things I loved to do including sewing, reading, making things, and developing conceptual projects. I have continually been driven to worked develop these and additional skills. The work is still fun and rewarding. Sewing and making things have always given me great fulfillment. The joy of creation will never go away, even when the path is frustrating and tiring.
For over twenty-five years, I have taught students, been inspired by them, and collaboratively developed projects that we both find meaningful. My goal is to share what I love by guiding students through the creative process.
I have always wanted to prove that sewing is more than a menial task, and can serve in developing dynamic concepts through collaborations with a range of people.
I have been very lucky to continue to learn and grow as an academic and artist. I look forward to continuing on the journey through the types of art and design projects I have been driven to complete for as long as I can remember.
