Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Production Date: 2014

Scenic and Lighting Design: Phillip Franck

Costume Designer: Alexandra Sargent Capps

Producer: Vanderbilt University

Director: Terryl Hallquist

Playwright: Tom Stoppard (1966)

Conceptual Approach: set primarily in Renaissance dress, I used specific color palettes to differentiate the three groupings of characters: R & G; The Players; The Hamlet Characters

Short Play Synopsis: Centers around two characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, who are interspersed into scenes from Hamlet, yet are blissfully unaware of what is going on within the scenes that take place without them. The play is considered an absurdist tragicomedy and has striking similarities to Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot.
